If you have a single rack space 1/4-inch patchbay from the likes of dbx, Behringer, Samson, or Neutrik, you understand the challenge of marking things clearly. Nashville’s Trace Audio has an inexpensive solution in the form of peel-and-stick labels. Custom cut according to model, the white patch labels are single rack space high 19-inch stickers that cover the entire face of the ‘bay.

The Blank Patch Bay Labels are made of PVC vinyl for durability and flexibility. Users can write with a marker or wet-erase pens. Since the nonpermanent pens are susceptible to smudging (especially for the left-handed among us), ultra-fine Sharpie-type markers might be a better choice. Don’t worry about making a mistake; the vinyl wipes clean with water (if the ink is still wet) or standard isopropyl alcohol. I found Q-Tips provided for precision cleaning once the sticker is in place. The adhesive is also forgiving; it can be removed and reapplied. Make sure your patchbay panel is clean and dust-free before you start. Website coming soon. Now available through Trace Audio’s Reverb.com store.
