I am Really, Really Old Now

| | Comments (3)

"First off, I really enjoy reading Tape Op. I have read it since I was in 8th grade (2001)."

I never imagined I'd get an email that began like this. I will be 46 in May. Tape Op entered its 14th year in April. Jackpot! Recording Studio is over 14 years old. My longest-running band I was in started playing music over 24 years ago. And people started reading Tape Op Magazine in 8th grade and are now old enough to be in college, getting legally drunk and/or pumping out kids. Time flies...

I almost drunkenly introduced myself at the bar during TapeOpCon 2006 to tell you that Vomit Launch (along with Thin White Rope, Dr. Know and 7 Seconds) was my first punk rock show. It was in Sacramento and I was in 6th grade.
Oh man. I'll never forget that show. I was a big fan of Thin White Rope, and still keep in touch with Kevin Seconds occasionally. In fact, Brandon Cruz of Dr. Know just dropped me a line and we traded MP3s of our bands with each other. And that show is where John Baccigaluppi heard Vomit Launch as he was recording the 7 Seconds set! We met soon after...
Well I have been reading tapeop since before I was old enough to drink too... Heck I made my first CD between sessions of reading TapeOp myself... Heh Keep up the great work.
