Behringer City?

| | Comments (4)

Our compatriots over at Australia's fine Audio Technology magazine posted this video of a visit to Behringer City. See Video Here.
It's a curious visit and Chris Holder offers some good insight into this man and his company. Thanks to Steven Massey's blog for this tidbit.

I've had great experiences with Behringer. MultiEffects, Preamp, Keyboard Amp, DI Box, and the xm8500 dynamic mic was the main unit in recording the vox for my own record. It eventually replaced the Heil PR40 because it is stone deaf with anything beyond 6 in. (we live in a noisy neighborhood). They always seem to have the competitive edge in sheer number of features coupled with affordable pricing. It was cool to read the article about the producer on Easter Island who argued a similar rationale.
As a long time user of Behringer stuff, I have had nothing but good luck with their items. I own both V-Amp pros, MS16 speakers, the FCA202, a UB802 mixer, and C2 mics in my studio. I will be getting the C3 & 8500 dynamic mics next week, and am sure that hey will be fine. Behringer stuff is NOT top of the line, but it allows home studios to try out equipment that does what the "big boys" use, learn proper technic, and how to get the most out of a piece of gear. People can bash away, and I will buy their "berry junk" at 1/2 the new cost, and get on with recording! LOL It was a great video to watch, thank you for the link!
" I have had nothing but good luck with their items. " - Yeah, "Luck" is the word... Me, I would rather not push my luck with that shit. I am an engineer, not a gambler - I would rather save up my little pennies and invest in real pieces of equipment that will actually sound good, and keep functioning for years. I truly believe that the Behringer active DI is the worst DI box EVER MADE !
The quote that killed me. "I wasn't sure Uli Behringer really existed. I mean, no one I know knows Uli Behringer. Last I heard he was holed up James Bond style in some bunker in the Philippines. Like Blofeld with a blow gun."
